Smokies Add Blevins To Roster

Sevierville, Tennessee -- The Tennessee Smokies Professional Baseball Club, the Class AA Southern League Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, have added LHP Jerry Blevens to the roster.

The 23-year-old is a native of Swanton, OH. Jerry was born in Johnson City, TN, and is a graduate of the University of Dayton. He is in his fourth season of professional baseball. The Chicago Cubs selected him in the 17th round of the 2004 draft. Blevins will be joining the Smokies from the Daytona Cubs (A).

As part of this roster move, the Smokies have sent infielder Brian Dopirak and pitcher Tim Layden to Class A Daytona.

Tennessee starts a five game series on the road tonight against the Mississippi Braves. The Smokies will return home to face the Jacksonville Suns for five games beginning on Wednesday May 23rd.
