Braves Walk Off With 3-2 Win Thursday Night over Smokies

Pearl, MS-The Braves snapped a scoreless tie with a fifth inning J.C Holt RBI single scoring Mike Rosema.

The Smokies rallied back with two runs in the top of the sixth. Jemel Spearman got things going with an infield single and then moved to third when Jake Fox doubled to center. Josh Kroeger drove them in with a hot roller to right give Tennessee a short lived 2-1 lead.

The Braves came right back to tie the score. Carl Loadenthal singled followed by a Clint Sammons sacrifice bunt. Mike Rozema then rolled a single up reliever Paul Schapperts glove and arm into the air and safely on the ground. Pitch hitter Josh Burrus then sent a sacrifice fly to center which tied the score 2-2.

Great relief pitching from both squads kept the score tied until the bottom of the ninth.

Jerry Blevins (0-1) fresh from Daytona entered the game and proceeded to walk the lead off batter J.C Holt. He was then moved into scoring position with a sacrifices bunt and scored on a Brandon Jones single his third hit in the game.

Joey Devine (2-2) was the winning pitcher retiring the side in order in the top of the ninth.

The series will continue Friday Night from Trustmark Park with Kevin Hart (2-4) getting the start for Tennessee and southpaw Jo-Jo Reyes (4-1) pitching for Mississippi.
