Smith added to Osprey roster

MISSOULA, MT - The Missoula Osprey, in conjunction with the Arizona Diamondbacks, have announced that 2009 2nd round draft pick, right-handed pitcher Eric Smith, has signed his contract and has been assigned to Missoula.
Smith had a solid 2009 season for Rhode Island, posting a 5-3 mark and a 4.08 ERA for the Rams, who were 37-20-1 this past spring. Smith, who struck out 56 batters in 70 2/3 innings pitched this past season, pitched one complete-game shutout, and was also part of the first shutout of the University of Miami on their home field in nearly five seasons, going eight innings and allowing just three hits while striking out five Hurricanes in the 3-0 Rams' win.
Smith is scheduled to arrive in Missoula this afternoon, and will start a throwing program as soon as possible. His Osprey debut could happen sometime in July.
