SALT LAKE CITY - Kendry Morales was 4-for-4, Mike Eylward homered and drove in three runs and Tommy Murphy doubled twice and had three RBIs to lead the Salt Lake Bees to a 9-5 victory over the Portland Beavers Sunday afternoon at Franklin Covey Field.

Salt Lake (64-57) won their third straight game to take the last of four series this year between the two teams. The Bees have won six of their last seven games at home.

Portland (49-73) couldn't make up an early deficit on Sunday has now dropped four straight road series.

Craig Stansberry was 3-for-5 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs to lead Portland, while Royce Huffman and Ray Chang each added two hits in the losing effort.

Ervin Santana (2-1) allowed three runs and seven hits while striking out five in six innings of work to earn the win.

Roger Deago (2-3), pitching on three days' rest due to Mike Thompson's recall by San Diego on Saturday, gave up eight runs and ten hits in five innings to take the loss for Portland.

Salt Lake jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, highlighted by Murphy's two-run double in the second and Eylward's three-run home run an inning later.

Stansberry cut the Bees' lead in half with a three-run home run in the fifth inning off Santana to make the score 6-3, but Salt Lake was quick to respond as Murphy doubled home a run in the bottom of the frame and Morales did the same in the sixth.

With one run already home in the ninth inning, Portland loaded the bases and brought the tying run to plate, but Bees closer Marcus Gwyn came on and got Hiram Bocachica to hit into a game-ending double play to earn his second save in three days.

The two teams conclude their four-game series tomorrow at 6:05 p.m. (Pacific).
