
Slugfest Goes to Lexington 14-10

Rome, GA - The Lexington Legends defeated the Rome Braves Tuesday night at State Mutual Stadium 14-10 before a crowd of 1,856. Rome out hit Lexington 16 to12 but was unable to convert scoring opportunities leaving 13 on base.
Augusta posted four runs in the first inning on a three run double by Wander Franco and an RBI single by Chase Vallot. The Braves made it a 4-2 game in the bottom of the first on a two run double by Braxton Davidson and took the lead with four runs in the third on a Matt Tellor grand slam (2) for the 6-2 score. Lexington scored a single run in the fourth and posted five runs in the fifth thanks to a grand slam by Franco (7) and a run scoring wild pitch giving the Legends a 10-6 lead. Rome added a run the bottom of the fifth on an RBI triple by Ozzie Albies for the 10-7 score. Lexington scored three times in the seventh but Rome never quit and scored three runs in the eighth making it a 13-10 contest thanks to Tellor's three run double giving him seven RBI in the game. The Legends posted a run in the ninth on Corey Toups RBI single and held on for the 14-10 final
Zach Lovvorn (5-6) gets the victory for Lexington while Rome's Jean Carlos Gil (0-1) is charged with the loss. Evan Beal (5) earns the save.
