Jackson Generals News Release

MONTGOMERY, AL - The Montgomery Biscuits (31-36, 66-71) scored seven runs in the first two innings Friday and rolled to a 7-1 win over the Generals (29-38, 60-76). For the second straight night, Jackson failed to collect an extra-base hit and have dropped the first two games of the road series at Montgomery.

The Biscuits jumped out to a 7-0 lead with a two-run first and then a five-run second inning. In the bottom of the first, designated hitter Luke Maile delivered a two out, two-run single to left that scored Taylor Motter and Richie Shaffer. In the second, the Biscuits capped off a five-run inning with RBI's from Jake Hager, Shaffer and Maile. Montgomery scored their seven runs on nine hits, including three doubles.

Jackson's Dario Pizzano (2x4) delivered an RBI single scoring Patrick Brady in the top of third trimming the lead to 7-1. Biscuits' starter Dylan Floro had retired the first seven batters faced until Brady (0x2, R) reached on a catcher's interference in the third. Pizzano recorded Jackson's only multi-hit performance on Friday.

That would be all the scoring on Friday night as the two clubs played a scoreless final six innings. Jackson starter Cam Hobson (8-11, 4.60) allowed seven runs on nine hits in the first two innings, but no runs on three hits over the next five. Hobson went seven innings for the second time this year and first time since May 3, but suffered the loss. Hobson has given up 17 runs over his last two starts. Matt Brazis tossed a scoreless inning in the eighth behind Hobson.

In his fourth start this season against Jackson, Biscuits starter Dylan Floro (11-13) picked up his second win. In seven innings, he allowed just one unearned run on five hits, walking one and striking out six.

The Biscuits collected 12 hits on Friday, after just three on Thursday night and eight of their nine batters recorded hits.

The Generals will try to avoid dropping the series with Montgomery Saturday at Riverwalk Stadium in the middle game of the set. Lefty Tyler Olson (9-7, 3.73) will make the start for Jackson as Montgomery will send Albert Suarez (3-5, 4.24) to the rubber. The game will begin at 7:05 p.m. and can be heard on 96.5 ESPN, TuneIn Radio and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
