Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BELOIT -- The South Bend Cubs parlayed eight runs in the first three innings of the game into a 9-4 victory over the Beloit Sky Carp in the series opener Tuesday at ABC Supply Stadium.
As the fans enjoyed an 80's-themed night at the ballpark, the Cubs scored three runs in the second and five more in the third to take control of the game.
Holt Jones (0-4) allowed all eight of the runs in working 2 1-3 frames. The Beloit bullpen was terrific as per usual, allowing only one run for the remainder of the game.
The Sky Carp offense wasn't without its share of highlights. Brady Allen continued his outstanding play of late with a 3-for-5 performance, while Dalvy Rosario also had three hits.
Davis Bradshaw continued his season-long excellence. The Midwest League's leading hitter went 3-for-5 to raise his batting average to .405.
The Sky Carp and the Cubs will battle in game two of their six-game series Wednesday morning at 11:05 as the Sky Carp host another Education Day, with more than 2,500 students expected to be in attendance.
The Beloit Sky Carp are the High-A Affiliate of the Miami Marlins and play their games at ABC Supply Stadium -- the heart of the Riverbend District.
