Slippery Rock, PA -The Slippery Rock Sliders professional baseball team will hold their inaugural Fan Fest on Saturday, April 28 at Jack Critchfield Park on the SRU campus in conjunction with Slippery Rock University's Kaleidoscope Festival. Fan Fest will run from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and shuttle vans will bring participants from the Kaleidoscope Festival on Main Street in Slippery Rock to Jack Critchfield Park. Parking will also be available at the stadium.

The highlight of Fan Fest will be batting practice for all kids, thrown by Sliders' field manager Greg Jelks. Slider players will be on hand to offer hitting pointers while pitchers will give lessons in the bullpen. Families are encouraged to bring their gloves and baseballs and softballs to play catch in the outfield of Jack Critchfield Park. Fans will also be able to tour the offices, locker room, and press box at the stadium. There is no charge to participate in any of the events at Fan Fest.

Among the Slider players who will be in attendance are outfielders Jason Curry, Tony Marciante, and Nate Yoho and pitchers Brent Gabel and John Katich.

In addition to the baseball activities, single game tickets will officially go on sale on Saturday, and inaugural season merchandise will be available.

"Throughout the Frontier League, Fan Fests are a great way for the community to visit the ballparks and interact with players with the season just around the corner," said Sliders' general manager Steve Tahsler. "With Opening Day less than a month off, Saturday will be a great opportunity for fans to get a taste of baseball with the season right around the corner." The Slippery Rock Sliders will begin their inaugural season on Wednesday, May 23, at the Washington Wild Things. The home opener will be on Tuesday, May 29, against the Florence Freedom. 32 home games will be at Jack Critchfield Park on the campus of Slippery Rock University.
