Joliet Slammers News Release
Joliet, IL - The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy dropped game three against Traverse City on Sunday afternoon. The Slammers end the series in an 8-3 loss against the Beach Bums. The series concluded a homestand of nine games where Joliet improved their record to 21-18 following a 10-game win streak.
Newly acquired RHP Daren Osby from Troy University pitched for the Slammers. In his debut, he pitched five innings and only allowed three hits and one run while striking out five batters.
In the first inning, the Slammers would score two of their runs thanks to first baseman Trenton Hill. At the plate, he hit a groundball up the middle to bring home one run and would later cross the plate himself on an error.
The Beach Bums would answer with one run in the second.
The Slammers would add onto their lead with an RBI single hit to center by DH R.J. Thompson in the fifth inning. The score remained the same until Traverse City rallied for seven runs in the ninth to win. Today's Merchants and Manufacturers Player of the Game goes to Trenton Hill (1-4, 1 RBI, 1 R).
The Slammers are on the road against the Schaumburg Boomers from June 26-28. They return on June 29th to host Lake Erie.
