
Slammers Drop Morning Game to Otters 6-4

Joliet, IL - The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy remain looking for their first win of the season after dropping their first morning game to Evansville (3-2) on Thursday, May 16.
The scoring began in the bottom of the 2nd and continued through the 4th inning between both teams. Slammers shortstop Chaz Meadows started the scoring on an RBI double to plate the first run of the night. After the Evansville Otters gained a run to even the score at one in the top of the 3rd the Slammers put up three runs headlined by an RBI double by Justin Garcia making it 4-1.
Evansville scored two in the 4th inning as well as the 5th with a two-run single to give the Otters a 5-4 lead in the top of the 5th inning after a two-run single by Manny Cruz that brought home Toby Thomas and Brandon Dulin.
The later innings didn't provide much scoring outside of a Mike Rizzitello double that brought the lead to 6-4 in the 8th inning.
The Merchant's and Manufacturers Bank Player of the Game is Danny Zardon who went 2-4.
Joliet returns tomorrow at 10:05 am against the Otters to conclude the series vs. Evansville.
