Skyrockets Slide Past Beijing, 113-110

Maywood, CA. In a much-anticipated match-up, the 5th ranked San Jose Skyrockets (14-3) went on the road to take on the 8th ranked Beijing Aoshen Olympian (9-7) which turned out to be a thriller. With 3.5 seconds left in regulation, Beijing scored a 3-pointer to tie it at 110-110. Then, Anthony Lumpkin returned the favor from 25 feet away to sink a 3-pointer at the buzzer, giving the Skyrockets a win with the final score of 113-110.

The Skyrockets led by as much as 11 points during the contest, but it was a very tight game. The Skyrockets led at the end of the first quarter, 38-32, but then was outscored by Beijing 23-24 in the second. Beijing continued to outscore San Jose in the third quarter, 27-23 as the Aoshen had well-balanced scoring. Beijing was led by Chrismen with 28 points, followed by Zhang and Huang with 18 each. Williams and Vinson contributed 14 points each.

The Skyrockets were led by All-Star candidate Lamar Castile with 27 points as well as Jamar Howard, who had one of his best games with 21. Rock Winston contributed not only 18 points, but 15 rebounds to lead San Jose in that category. Jason Smith and Solomon Hughes chipped in 13 ponts each for the Skyrockets.

The Skyrockets will next host the 6th-ranked Florida Pit Bulls starring ex-Golden State Warrior Tim Hardaway at the San Jose Civic Center Auditorium on Jan 20th and 21st for a much-anticiapted match-up between the respective teams.
