NFL Superstar to Join Nighthawks on Sunday

January 19, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Maryland NightHawks News Release

Rockville, MD. The red-hot ABA Maryland Nighthawks (15-5) announced today that Baltimore Ravens' lineback Adalius Thomas will hit jumpers instead of running backs when he suits up and plays for the ABA powerhouse this weekend. Thomas will play power forward for the Nighthawks as they host the Newark Express on Sun, Jan 22 at 6pm at Montgomery College - Rockville Campus.

Thomas, who was named to the 2003 Pro Bowl, will play under the ABA's unique 13th Man Rule that allows a celebrity to join the roster and participate in one game. With Thomas in the lineup, the Nighthawks expect a big crowd and hope that his competitive nature will inspire his teammates against a tough Newark squad coached by NBA legend Darryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins. The Nighthawks have split two previous spriited contests with the Express with the "Hawks" winning the last game by a single point.

Thomas looks to extend the Nighthawks' winning streak to four games and catapult them over the first place Rochester RazorSharks in the Connie Hawkins Division. Proceeds from a special raffle will benefit Thomas' S.L.A.S.H. Fund of the Baltimore Community Foundation. For more information about the Fund, please visit www.adslashfund.org. Tickets are available online at Ticketweb.com or through the MCC Box Office. Admission for children (12 and under) is $5.00. Adult (13 and over) tickets are $10.00. Senior Citizens (55 and over) can purchase $7 tickets at the box office on game days. A limited number of floor seats are available for $20 at 301 758 1090.
