Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
Muskegon, MI - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Michigan Mayhem tonight 119-104 (6, 1) to move to 17-15 on the season. The 'Force led by as many as 18 points in the opening quarter, however, the Mayhem did battle back to take the lead at halftime before the 'Force turned it on in the second half. Michigan dropped to 6-20 and currently averages a league-worst 2.3 quarter-points per game.
The 'Force looked to come out strong as they lost in their first trip to Muskegon back in December. They did just that as they led by as many as 18 points (32-14) with 3:00 to go in the opening quarter. The 'Force went on to win the first quarter 39-28. The Mayhem would not fold though as they battled back to take a 61-56 lead heading into the locker rooms. The Mayhem dominated the second quarter as they outscored the 'Force 33-17 behind 12 points from John White on four three-pointers in the last three minutes of the first half. The 'Force would start the second half like they started the game and outscored the Mayhem 36-17 in the quarter and led 92-78 heading into the final quarter. The 'Force would not relinquish the double-digit lead and while the outcome of the game was already decided in the final minutes of action, the final quarter-point was up for grab. Jermaine Walker would make two free throws to give the 'Force a 27-26 lead and he would also come up with a big steal to ice the quarter as the 'Force improved to 5-13 on the road with the victory.
The Skyforce's next game is on Saturday, January 28th, on the road against the Gary Steelheads. Tip-off is set for 7:05 pm at the Genesis Convention Center.
