'Force Facts:
Game #34 / Home Game #15 / CBA Game #127
Who Are These Guys? Skyforce fans who attended the last home game on January 13th will probably be a little confused when the "ËForce takes the court tonight against the Yakama Sun Kings. That's because half the team will be making their home debut as the "ËForce has made several transactions since the All-Star break. To make a long story short, since January 12th the "ËForce has lost Rodney Buford, Brandon Hunter, Renaldo Major, Al Neale, and James Wright. The players that replaced them on the roster are Geno Carlisle, Steve Castleberry, Chris Owens, Billy Thomas, and Jermaine Walker. Stephen Graham even had time for a 10-day contract with the Chicago Bulls as he rejoined the team in Gary this past Saturday after the Bulls decided not to resign him.
Successful Roadtrip For a team that has struggled on the road this season (6-13), coach Joerger and the players had to be pretty happy with their latest five-game roadtrip as they finished 3-2 including a dramatic come-from-behind victory against Gary this last Saturday night. To start off the roadtrip they split two games in Dakota as they lost 106-102 (5, 2) and won the next night 118-98 (6, 1) for their first win at the Bismarck Civic Center this season. Next the "ËForce dropped a close game to the league-leading Rockford Lightning 128-120 (6, 1) but responded the following night with a 119-104 (6, 1) win over the Michigan Mayhem. In the final game of the five-game roadtrip, the "ËForce found themselves trailing by 21 points (77-56) heading into the final quarter against the Gary Steelheads. They would outscore the Steelheads 50-23 in the fourth quarter to win 106-100 (5, 2) as they won consecutive road games for the first time this season. The 50 points in a final quarter was a CBA season-high, however, it was not a team record as the "ËForce scored 53 points in a quarter against he Tri-City Chinook back on February 25, 1995.
Streak Ends Skyforce rookie Steve Castleberry finally ended his streak of consecutive filed goals made as he went 3-for-4 from the field against the Gary Steelheads this past Saturday night. Castleberry had not missed a shot in three previous games against Dakota (8-for-8), Rockford (1-for-1), and Michigan (3-for-3) and he made his first two shots against Gary before missing a shot to end the streak at 14 consecutive field goals made. He is shooting a blistering .773 (17-for-22) from the field in five games.
