Patroons Trade for Saunders

Albany, NY - The Albany Patroons exchanged forward Carl Mitchell for Gary Steelheads' forward Edmund Saunders. The Patroons' new 6-foot-9 forward played 15 games with the Steelheads, averaging 13.6 ppg. Saunders is also currently ranked 8th in CBA rebounding, capturing 7.9 rpg. Edmund Saunders of Waterbury, CT, graduated from Uconn in 2002 and was part of UConn's 1999 NCAA Championship title. After college, Saunders played in Iceland for a season, helping his team win the Icelandic Championship. Saunders then played in Mexico, then South America where he lead his league in scoring 28 ppg and 13 rpg, and then to Finalnd where he averaged 25 ppg. Saunders came back to the U.S to play in the ABA, where he averaged 22.0 ppg and 9.6 rpg and then in the USBL. His NBA experience includes playing for the Charlotte Hornets entry in the Reebok Rocky Mountain Review and attending an NBA camp with the New Jersey Nets. Saunders will be playing in yellow and green at tomorrow night's home game against the Idaho Stampede. Friday night begins the Patroons' four game home streak.
