
SkyChiefs add Bobby Estalella

Syracuse, NY- The Syracuse SkyChiefs announced today that the Toronto Blue Jays have signed veteran Major League Catcher Bobby Estalella to a Minor League Contract and assigned him to Syracuse.
Estalella, 29, is a veteran of 298 Major League games over parts of eight seasons. Estalella appeared in a career high 106 games for the San Francisco Giants in 2000 hitting .234 with 14 HR and 53 RBI's. He was selected by the Phillies in the 23rd round of the 1992 draft and made his Major League Debut for the Phillies on September 17, 1996 versus the Florida Marlins.
Estalella was on the opening day roster of the Arizona Diamondbacks this season and appeared in seven games before being outrighted on May 5th. He was batting .143 in fourteen at-bats with two home runs and fourteen runs batted in for the Diamondbacks.
Estalella is the second Major League Veteran added to the Syracuse roster this week. He joins his former Giants teammate Marvin Benard, who was signed on Monday, in the SkyChiefs lineup tonight versus the Richmond Braves at 7:00 PM.
