
Sky to Host Annual Fitness Festival

CHICAGO - The Chicago Sky and the Sky Cares Foundation will host its annual Fitness Festival presented by the Magellan Corporation on Tuesday, July 21 from 4-6 p.m. CT in the North Parking Lot at Allstate Arena. The event offers more than 400 underserved youth the opportunity to participate in activities that demonstrate and encourage healthy, active lifestyles.
The 2015 Fitness Festival will feature tennis lessons by the United States Tennis Association with racquets and balls provided by Wilson Sporting Goods and a dynamic warm up session led by Illinois Bone and Joint Institute. Additionally, Sport Court will be putting down a basketball court in the parking lot for youth to run through basketball skill stations led by the Chicago Sky's youth basketball staff. Other activities include soccer led by the Chicago Red Stars, Rugby with Chicago Women's Rugby Club, Zumba with ABC Dance Academy, bowling with Liberty Lanes, an NFL Combine led by Former NFL Player Terriun Crump, tackle football with the Chicago Force, and a variety of activities such as yoga and softball hosted by Girls in the Game.
More than 400 young girls and boys between the ages of 7 and 16 will participate in the event. A majority of attendees will come from youth groups that include the Better Boys Foundation, Ella Flagg Young Elementary, Girls in the Game, Thresholds/Christ Centered Ministries, After School Matters and Young Women's Leadership Charter School. Each participant will leave the event with their own basketball as part of the Chicago Sky's #DRIBBLEON Initiative. The official #DRIBBLEON ball distribution will take place at 5:30 p.m. CT in the North Parking lot.
At the conclusion of the event, groups will receive nutritious snacks sponsored by Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Jimmy Johns, Subway, Bare Snacks, Einstein Bagels, and Pepsi. All participants will complete their experience by joining the Sky inside Allstate Arena to see the Chicago Sky take on the Atlanta Dream at 7 p.m. CT.
