Chicago Sky News Release
CHICAGO - The Chicago Sky agreed to a multi-year contract extension with recently acquired guard Cappie Pondexter. Per team policy, contract terms were not disclosed.
"Extending Cappie, I think it's a perfect fit and match," said Sky Head Coach and General Manager Pokey Chatman. "They always say 'there is a time and a place for everything.' This is the time and this is the place for Cappie to be with us as we try to achieve our everything."
On February 16, the Sky acquired the rights to Pondexter in exchange for Epiphanny Prince in a trade with the New York Liberty. In 2014, Pondexter averaged 13.2 points and 3.9 assists per game for the Liberty. The 2015 season marks Pondexter's 10th WNBA season.
"It always feels good to be wanted. Chicago really wanted me here and I am glad I am here," said Pondexter. "At this point, and stage in my career, I have done a lot of great things and just to be a part of an organization where their number one priority is winning a championship is everything I asked for."
The Sky opens the 2015 Season on June 5 at Allstate Arena when they host the Indiana Fever in a rematch of last year's Eastern Conference Finals. Prior to tip-off, the team will unveil its 2014 Eastern Conference Championship banner. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 866.SKY.WNBA or visit CHICAGOSKY.NET.
