Skinner Signs Entry-Level Deal with Edmonton Oilers

The Swift Current Broncos announced on Monday afternoon that the Edmonton Oilers have signed Broncos netminder Stuart Skinner to a three-year entry-level contract.

Skinner joined the Broncos on January 9th as part of a blockbuster trade with the Lethbridge Hurricanes prior to the 2018 WHL Trade Deadline and was productive. In 25 regular season games, Skinner posted an impressive 16-6-1-1 record to go along with a 2.68 goals against average and a .914 save percentage with two shutouts.

The 19-year-old product of Edmonton, AB was named the Vaughn WHL Goaltender of the Week on six occasions this season and was also awarded as the Vaughn WHL Goaltender of the Month for April.

Skinner was solid during the Broncos playoff run as he helped lead Swift Current to it's first WHL League Championship title since 1993. The 6'4?, 200lb goaltender led all major goaltending statistical categories in the 2018 WHL Playoffs, registering a 2.20 goals against average, a .932 save percentage to go along with six shutouts.

Skinner was originally drafted by the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the first round, 17th overall in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. For his career, he's played in a total of 207 regular season contests, boasting a 104-72-9-6 record, a .908 save percentage and a 3.22 goals against average.

The Swift Current Broncos will play in the 100th edition of the MasterCard Memorial Cup when the tournament gets underway on Friday, May 18th in Regina, SK. Swift Current's first matchup is against the QMJHL Champion Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Saturday, May 19th at 2:00pm MDT.
