
Skeeters Win Fourth Straight, Shut Out Blue Crabs To Take Series Opener

WALDORF, MD- The Sugar Land Skeeters shut out the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 2-0 on Monday night and have now won four in a row. The Skeeters are now 34-30 and remain three games back of York for 1st place in the Freedom Division with six games left to play in the first half.
Aaron Thompson was lights out for the Skeeters, going seven innings, giving up no runs on five hits with strikeouts. Thompson earned his 3rd win of the season. Tim Sexton picked up his 2nd loss despite pitching a complete game as he went nine innings, giving up two runs on six hits with five strikeouts and a walk. Zech Zinicola picked up his 2nd save of the season.
The Skeeters picked up one of their runs in the first inning on a Jeremy Barfield single that would score Josh Prince. The second run came on Prince' single to left that would score Beamer Weems to put the Skeeters up 2-0. The Blue Crabs had as many hits as the Skeeters with six, but weren't able to push any runs across.
