Bridgeport Bluefish News Release

(Sugar Land, TX) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (18-26) were defeated in come from behind fashion by the Sugar Land Skeeters (23-23) 2-1, in a pitcher's duel at Constellation Field on Wednesday night, completing a four-game sweep for the home team. The Bluefish have lost five consecutive games overall, and went 2-5 on their rain-shortened seven-game road trip.

Bridgeport Starting Pitcher Mike Antonini (3-4) suffered the loss, pitching seven innings, allowing two runs on just five hits, walking none, striking out five, and surrendering one home run. Sugar Land Starting Pitcher Josh Geer (1-0) earned the victory, tossing seven innings, giving up one run on six hits, striking out eight and not walking a batter, giving up one home run. Derrick Loop retired all four batters he faced in an inning and one third of relief, notching his second save of the series and the season as well.

The 'Fish took the early 1-0 lead in the top half of the fourth inning off Geer on a one out, solo home run by Welington Dotel, his third big fly of the season. The Skeeters would answer right back in the bottom half of the frame off Antonini, as Delwyn Young blasted a leadoff game-tying solo shot of his own, his fourth rountripper of the season, and just like that the game was knotted at one. Sugar Land would take the lead for good in the bottom half of the sixth inning again off Antonini. Dustin Martin reached on a single with one out, and would score what proved to be the game winning run on a two-out RBI single off the bat of Jeremy Barfield, his third game winning RBI of the series. Dotel led the offensive attack for Bridgeport with two hits.
