
Skeeters Shut out Somerset

Sugar Land, Texas - The Somerset Patriots (20-14, 55-42) were shut out by the Sugar Land Skeeters (23-10, 64-32) 8-0 Monday night at Constellation Field.
The Skeeters jumped in front 2-0 in the bottom of second on a two-out RBI single from Alvaro Rondon and a run-scoring wild pitch. They added five runs in the bottom of the third on a Justin Pacchioli fielding error, a Matt Chavez (10) two-run home run and RBI singles from Javier Betancourt and Barrett Barnes.
Sugar Land increased their lead to 8-0 on a Betancourt RBI infield single.
The Patriots lineup was limited to four hits on the evening. Two position players - Al Reda and Mike Blanke - made relief appearances in the seventh and eighth innings, respectively.
Yasutomo Kubo (3-0) tossed seven shutout innings to earn the win. Ross Vance (0-1) allowed seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and four walks in his Patriots' debut to take the loss.
The Patriots and Skeeters continue their seven-game series Tuesday night. First pitch at Constellation Field is set for 7:05 p.m. CST (8:05 p.m. EST).
The 2018 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford continues on the road until Friday, August 17th when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark for an 7:05 p.m. game against the York Revolution.
