Skeeters Harpoon Riversharks in 3-2 Win

The Sugar Land Skeeters came through with a tenth-inning walk-off win Wednesday night, 3-2 over the Camden Riversharks. Sugar Land native Michael Rockett lined a two-out single to right field, driving home Reid Gorecki. The victory kept Sugar Land 1 1/2 games ahead of second place Somerset in the Atlantic League's Freedom Division, with 18 games left on the Skeeters' first half schedule.

Skeeters' pitcher Gilbert De La Vara returned from the disabled list for his first start since May 11th to pitch four scoreless innings. The Skeeters jumped ahead on Josh Pressley's solo homerun in the third inning, and extended their advantage to 2-0 when Adam Godwin drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs in the fourth. Camden tied the score with single runs in the fifth and eighth innings, to set the stage for Rockett's heroics. Jason Bergmann pitched the top of the tenth and retired the Riversharks in order to earn the win.

Up Next: The Skeeters are idle Thursday. On Friday, t he Skeeters will send out LHP Jason Lane (4-2, 3.62 ERA) to oppose Riversharks RHP Jeff Farnsworth (2-0, 6.26 ERA) in game four of this six-game series.
