Skeeters Drop Series Finale vs. OKC 6-4

(SUGAR LAND, Texas) - The Sugar Land Skeeters dropped their series finale against the Oklahoma City Dodgers 6-4 on Tuesday night at Constellation Field.

The Skeeters for the second straight night lost after leading through seven innings. Oklahoma City took the lead in the eighth inning on a three-run home run from Matt Davidson. The Skeeters countered with a run in the ninth on an RBI double from JJ Matijevic but Sheldon Neuse added an RBI single in the ninth to close out the scoring.

Davidson hit his three-run homer off Skeeters right-hander Riley Ferrell, who was handed the loss.

The Skeeters chased a 2-0 first-inning deficit with a run in the second inning and two runs in the sixth. Matijevic hit his third home run since joining the Skeeters in the second, with Taylor Jones delivering an RBI double and Jose Siri an RBI single in the sixth.

Right-handers Bryan Abreu and Enoli Paredes each made MLB Rehab Assignment appearances Tuesday. Abreu allowed a run on a hit and struck out two through 2 1/3 innings. It was Abreu's second appearance of the homestand.

Paredes made the first appearance of his MLB Rehab Assignment with the Skeeters, tossing 18 pitches and allowing two runs on two hits in the ninth inning.

Right-hander Brett Conine got the start and took a no-decision, striking out six through six innings and allowing two runs on five hits. It matched Conine's season-long outing and matched the longest outing from a Skeeters pitcher this season.

Oklahoma City scored a pair in the first on a solo home run from Yoshi Tsutsugo and an RBI double from Davidson. Left-hander Darien Nunez collected the win, allowing a run on one hit and striking out four through two innings of relief.

Following an off-day Wednesday, the Skeeters begin a six-game series against the Round Rock Express, beginning at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday at Dell Diamond.
