
Sixth Sinks Nuts to Third Straight Loss

Bakersfield, CA. - The levee broke in the sixth sending the Modesto Nuts to a 5-1 loss to the Bakersfield Blaze on Sunday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark.
After the Nuts (1-3; 27-47) scored in the first, the Blaze (3-1; 40-34) tied it in the fourth. Jack Wynkoop (L, 0-1) reached the sixth in his Nuts' debut but could not record an out. He walked the leadoff man and surrendered three straight singles before being lifted for Craig Schlitter. Gianfranco Wawoe and Chantz Mack each recorded RBI singles. Jay Baum added a run with a sac fly off Schlitter.
Wynkoop worked five-plus innings allowing four hits and four runs with one walk and three strikeouts.
Eddie Campbell (W, 8-5) allowed a two-out RBI single to Collin Ferguson in the first but that was it in six strong innings. Campbell allowed six hits, walked two and struck out six.
