
Sixteen Former Admirals Competing in Conference Semifinals of NHL's Stanley Cup Playoffs

NORFOLK, Va. - Sixteen former Admirals will compete in the Conference Semifinals of the National Hockey League's Stanley Cup Playoffs - including ten members of the Admirals' NHL parent club, the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Lightning completed a comeback from a 3-1 series deficit against the Pittsburgh Penguins last night by winning Game Seven in Pittsburgh, 1-0, and claiming their Eastern Conference Quarterfinals matchup four games to three. Among the players currently on the Lightning roster are former Admirals Marc-Andre Bergeron, Steve Downie, Adam Hall, Blair Jones, Mike Lundin, Mattias Ritola, Matt Smaby, Mike Smith, Dustin Tokarski and Dana Tyrell. Tampa Bay will face the Washington Capitals in their Eastern Conference Semifinals matchup beginning tomorrow night in Washington, D.C.
Other former Admirals players still competing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs include defenseman Kent Huskins of the San Jose Sharks, forward Shawn Thornton of the Boston Bruins, and forward Kris Versteeg and goaltender Michael Leighton of the Philadelphia Flyers. In addition, San Jose Sharks Assistant Coach Trent Yawney was head coach of the Norfolk Admirals from 2000-01 to 2004-05, and Washington Capitals Assistant Coach Bob Woods played for the Hampton Roads Admirals during the 1995-96 season.
