Sixers Take Series at Visalia with 4-1 Win

Visalia, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino downed the Visalia Rawhide 4-1 on Friday night and took a three-game set two-games-to-one at Recreation Park. The Sixers trio of Simon Mathews (4IP), Jorge Tavarez (W, 2IP) and Mike Kaelin (SV, 3IP) combined to strike out 12 batters.

The Sixers (48-51, 15-14) fell behind 1-0 in the first when Marcus Wilson doubled and then stole third before being knocked home on Drew Ellis' RBI single. The 66ers tied the game in the fourth when Connor Justus drew a walk from Matt Peacock (3-1). Justus went to second on an error and third on a fielder's choice. He came home on Jonah Todd's fielder's choice. Inland Empire took a lead in the sixth when Jo Adell drew a bases loaded walk to make it 2-1. It remained 2-1 until the top of the ninth when Brandon Marsh took a four-pitch walk to open the ninth against Visalia (49-50, 12-17) righty Matt Brill. Justus followed by smoking a double to left scoring Marsh and giving IE a 3-1 lead. Later in the frame Jonah Todd's sac fly made it 4-1.
