
Sixers Drop Series Opener at Lancaster

Lancaster, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers fell to the Lancaster JetHawks 4-1 at The Hangar on Friday in the opener of the final regular season series of the year. The win guaranteed the JetHawks a place in the Southern Division playoffs.
The 66ers scored thier only run of the game in the first against starter Akeem Bostick (5-3) when with one out Angelo Amendolare singled for his first hit as a Sixer. He eventually made it to third on an error and came home on Zach Houchins RBI fielder's choice. Bostick went six innings allowing just the one unearned run on seven hits with a walk and five Ks.
Jake Jewell (2-15) was charged with the loss for the 66ers going six innings allowing four runs on six hits with four walks and four Ks. Three of the four runs charged to Jewell came in the first. Eric Karch tossed two scoreless out of the pen for the Sixers.
Jason Martin had a pair of doubles, walks and RBI for the JetHawks and also stole a base as he had the club's lone multi-hit game. Ayendy Perez, Zach Houchins and Hutton Moyer all had two-hit games for Inland Empire. Moyer had the Sixers' lone extra-base hit with a ninth inning double against righty Andrew Thome who allowed two hits in the ninth but got Houchins to fly out with two on base and notch his fourth save.
The loss dropped the 66ers to 47-90 on the season and 24-43 in the second half. The 90 losses matches the highest total in franchise history. The 2010 club finished the season 50-90.
