
Sixers Comeback Falls Short Versus JetHawks

San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino dropped the finale of a four-game series against the Lancaster JetHawks on Sunday 9-8 at San Manuel Stadium in 11-innings. The loss earned the JetHawks (9-9) a split of the set after the Sixers had taken the first two contests. Inland Empire (8-10) heads into the season's first off-day having played ten one-run games out of 18 contests taking six and losing four.
Lancaster jumped ahead in the first on a three-run homer by Colton Welker, his fourth of the season but the Sixers answered in the bottom of the frame. Brandon Sandoval drilled a two-run triple and scored the tying run on Jordan Zimmerman's RBI double. The Sixers took a lead in the second on Jahmai Jones' RBI double. Jones struck again in the bottom of the seventh after the JetHawks had taken a 6-4 lead hammering a three-run homer, his second of the year. In the eight however, the JetHawks tied the game at 7-7 on Manny Melendez' second RBI double. In extra innings both teams scored in the tenth. In the top of the 11th Forest Wall dumped a RBI single to left against Jared Walsh (0-1) who was on the mound after starting the game as the Designated Hitter. With two outs in the bottom of the 11th Jones smashed a liner that JetHawks shortstop Alan Trejo made a sensational diving catch on to ice the game.
The Sixers are back in action on Tuesday in Modesto at 7:05 pm. The contest can be heard live at 66ers.com.
