Brockton Rox News Release

BROCKTON, MA - Rookie DH Joe Milbury drove home two runs with an infield single in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a 4-4 tie and give the Rox a 6-4 victory at Campanelli Stadium in front of 1,841 in attendance. The win broke a three-game losing streak for Brockton and moved the team back to .500 on the season at 3-3. 1B Jake Daubert finished the game 3-4 with a HR and two RBI and also scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning. RHP Brad Guy recovered from a rough start to toss seven strong innings for the Rox in the 6-4 win.

Nashua struck for four runs in the top half of the first inning against Guy. 2B Tom Creighton hit a solo HR, and the next four Pride batters reached base including C Alexis Hernandez, who drove home two runs with a double. DH Guye Senjem continued his torrid start with an RBI single in the first inning to get the Rox on the scoreboard trailing 4-1. Both Guy and Pride RHP Dan Reichart settled down, and at one point Guy retired 10 in a row while Reichert set down 12 straight. The game remained 4-1 until the sixth.

In the sixth, Daubert drove home Senjem with a monster two-run HR to right field, and two batters later RF Keith Brachold tied the game with a solo HR, his first professional round-tripper. In the eighth, Daubert singled with one out and he and Brachold stood in scoring position with two outs. Milbury hit a ground ball between third and short that 3B Jared Johnson dove to stop, but his throw was slightly off target which allowed two runs to score, the fifth and sixth unanswered runs for the Rox. Milbury just signed with the Rox earlier in the afternoon.

RHP Jason Wylie pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his first save. In the rubber game of the series tomorrow, the Rox send RHP John Boker (1-0, 0.00 ERA) to the hill to face LHP Mark Hamilton in Hamilton's 2006 mound debut. The final game of the series and seven-game homestand is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
