Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Round Rock, TX - It appeared the Isotopes were in good shape to end their six-game losing streak on Saturday night. The team received offensive contributions from Charlie Blackmon (two hits in his first rehab game), Hunter Goodman (three-run homer) and Wynton Bernard (3-for-5).

Albuquerque led 7-3 at the seventh-inning stretch, but the tables turned in a major way. Round Rock plated one in the seventh and then six in the eighth, rallying past the Isotopes 10-7. The Express have won the first five games of this series.

Topes Scope: - Albuquerque has lost seven games in a row for the third time this season. It also took place May 27-June 3 and June 20-28.

- This marks the third time in 2023 the Isotopes have dropped the first five contests of a series. Both prior instances also took place on the road: at Salt Lake (won finale) and Reno (swept).

- Albuquerque has dropped seven in a row to Round Rock and nine consecutive games at Dell Diamond. The road losing streak against the Express ties the longest in club history (Aug. 27, 2007-Aug. 29, 2008).

- Bernard tallied his fourth three-hit game and 17th multi-knock effort in 33 games since rejoining Albuquerque on June 30. He is slashing .324/.375/.540 with seven doubles, a triple, seven homers, 23 RBI and 10 stolen bases during the stretch.

- Blackmon's multi-hit effort was his first in the Minor Leagues since July 7, 2013 for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. That was the last non-rehab game he played as a minor leaguer.

- Goodman's long ball was his 27th of the season between the Yard Goats and Isotopes. Each of his hits since joining Albuquerque have gone for extra bases.

- Connor Seabold made his second start of the season at Triple-A, working 3.2 innings with four hits and three runs allowed. He didn't issue a walk and struck out four batters.

- Cody Bradford became the fourth opposing starter to allow 10 or more hits and first since Matt Andriese on July 7 at Oklahoma City. Additionally, this marked the eight time Albuquerque scored seven or more runs against a starting pitcher.

- The fourth inning continued to bite the Isotopes on Saturday night. Round Rock scored three runs, increasing their total to 23 in that frame during this series.

- PJ Poulin issued a bases-loaded walk to Justin Foscue, the 20th issued by Albuquerque pitching this season.

- Fernando Abad has gone through a rough time on the mound in five outings since rejoining the Isotopes on July 30. The southpaw has compiled a 17.36 ERA (9 ER/4.2 IP) with 10 hits allowed during the stretch.

- Tommy Doyle allowed two inherited runners to score then two of his own, as he was charged with the blown save. It was the first save opportunity for Albuquerque in August.

- The Express scored in double digits for the sixth time in their last seven matchups against Albuquerque, and eighth time overall this season.

- Kevin Plawecki had two hits in the decisive eighth, becoming the sixth opposing player to record multiple knocks in an inning this year, and first since Jakson Reetz and Will Wilson each accomplished the feat for Sacramento on July 30.

- Albuquerque has allowed five or more runs in an inning on nine occasions over their last 14 contests.

- Tomorrow, Round Rock will be attempting to sweep the Isotopes for the sixth time. Four of the previous five instances have occurred at Dell Diamond: July 4-6, 2006; Aug. 27-30, 2007; June 30-July 3, 2008 and Sept. 2-5, 2011.

- Albuquerque has lost six of their last seven games played on this date, going back to when Fresno swept a doubleheader at Isotopes Park on Aug. 12, 2017.

On Deck: The Isotopes will attempt to salvage the series finale Sunday. Southpaw Josh Rogers will start for the visitors, while Round Rock is undecided. First pitch from Dell Diamond is set for 5:05 pm MT (6:05 CT).
