Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Allentown, Pa) - The Louisville Bats (48-68) avoided being swept at the hands of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (55-59) on Thursday night. The Bats won 6-1, having scored all six runs in the top of the sixth inning.
IronPigs starting pitcher Enyel De Los Santos (5-6) was cruising through the first five innings as he retired 12 of the first 16 batters he faced. He was aided by a solo home run by Nick Williams in the bottom of the first inning.
De Los Santos recorded only one out before being chased out of the top of the sixth inning. Alfredo Rodriguez hit a go-ahead two-run double that was followed by an RBI double by Christian Colon. Rob Refsnyder was intentionally walked before Tyler Gilbert came into the game to pitch in relief.
Gilbert hit Alex Blandino with a pitch then struck out Chadwick Tromp. Nick Longhi hit a bases-clearing three-run double to give the Bats a 6-1 lead.
Tim Collins (1-0) earned the win for Louisville by pitching 2/3 of an inning in relief of starting pitcher Jesus Reyes. Kyle Dohy pitched two scoreless innings in relief for Lehigh Valley while Tom Windle struck out the side for the IronPigs in the top of the ninth inning.
