
Mets Take Series Finale in Convincing Fashion

DURHAM, NC - The Durham Bulls managed just three hits and suffered their worst loss of the season, falling 17-0 to the Syracuse Mets Thursday night at the DBAP. Right-hander Drew Gagnon (6-4) recorded the victory for the Mets, while Sam McWilliams (1-3) suffered the loss.
The Mets jumped on the Bulls staff early and often, beginning with an RBI single by Dilson Herrera for a 1-0 lead in the first. Rene Rivera delivered an early blow to the Bulls in later in the inning with a three-run home run to extend the lead to 4-0.
After escaping the second inning unscathed, the Mets piled on in the third and fourth innings. Gregor Blanco hit a solo blast, followed up by a two-run home run from Arismendy Alcantara to make it 7-0. Rivera tallied his second home run of the game in the fourth inning on a solo blast and Alcantara drove in two more on an RBI double to make it 10-0.
The Mets continued their onslaught with a Rajai Davis sacrifice fly, followed by a Ruben Tejada RBI double to extend the lead to 12-0. Dilson Herrera added another run on an RBI single and Gregor Blanco drove in his second run of the game on a double in the fifth inning to make it 14-0. Davis tacked on another run with an RBI single to make it 15-0 in the fifth, and Rivera added his third home run of the game to make it 16-0 in the ninth. Blanco added the icing on the cake with his second home run to make it 17-0 in the final frame.
The Bulls continue their six-game homestand by welcoming in the Indianapolis Indians for a three-game series, beginning at 7:05 pm at the DBAP on Friday. Right-hander Jose De Leon will take the mound for the Bulls and face off against Indians left-hander Brandon Waddell.
