
Six New Alouettes

Montreal, May 25, 2009 - Montreal Alouettes' Vice President and General Manager Jim Popp announced today that Canadian free safety Doug Goldsby, wide receivers Javid James and Kevin Marion, linebacker Billy Parker and cornerbacks Tim Sims and Jamaine Winborne have signed contracts and will be expected at training camp this June.
Goldsby (6'2'', 220 lbs) has signed for three years plus an option after being protected by the Alouettes as an undrafted Canadian free agent. He played seven games in 2008 with the UBC Thunderbirds, recording 25 tackles and two tackles for a loss and participated in the East-West Bowl. He is 22.
James (6'3'', 220 lbs) has signed for two years plus an option. He played 21 career games with the Central Florida Knights, recording 292 yards and a touchdown on 26 receptions. He is 23.
Marion (5'10'', 170 lbs) has signed for a year plus an option. He played 44 career games with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, recording 548 yards and two touchdowns on 45 receptions. He set a team record in 2007 with 28 kickoff returns in a season and led the ACC in kickoff returns with an average of 31.3 yards per, for a total of 876 yards and one touchdown. He is 24.
Parker (6'0'', 195 lbs) has signed for a year plus an option. He played the last two years with the AFL New York Dragons after stints with the Carolina Panthers, the Miami Dolphins and the Cleveland Browns. He is 28.
Sims (6'2'', 220 lbs) has signed for two years plus an option. He played 31 career games at Stanford, recording 89 tackles, nine tackles for losses of 34 yards, one sack, an interception, seven knockdowns and recovered one fumble. He is 24.
Winborne (6'2'', 220 lbs) has signed for a year plus an option. He played 17 games in four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, recording 19 tackles and three knockdowns. He was also a member of the NFLE Cologne Centurions and New York Giants. He is 28.
The Alouettes' training camp will begin this June 7 at the Campus du Fort St-Jean in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
