Alaska Aces News Release
ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - The Alaska Aces, proud affiliate of the NHL Vancouver Canucks and AHL Utica Comets, are pleased to announce the signing of winger Peter Sivak to a contract for the 2016-17 season.
Head Coach and President of Hockey Operations Rob Murray made the announcement Thursday.
The 34 year old Sivak was the Aces leading scorer last season after being acquired from the Fort Wayne Komets. The 5-11, 200 pound right wing scored 20 goals with 35 assists for 55 points in 51 games for the Glacier Blue. He scored his 100th career ECHL goal last season at home April 8 at home against Colorado.
"Peter is an elite player in the ECHL", said Murray. "In addition to his personal skills, he makes everyone around him better, not only in games but also practice. He comes to the rink every day with a smile on his face and a work-ethic everyone looks up to. No question we are excited to have him back."
Last season was Sivak's second go-round with Alaska. He was a member of the club during the 2013-14 campaign when he helped the Aces win their third Kelly Cup championship. That season Sivak scored 31 goals and added 52 assists for 83 points in 67 games, winning ECHL awards for Performer of the Year, Best Plus/Minus and Sportsmanship. Sivak was also a First Team All-Star.
In addition to an extensive hockey resume in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, Sivak has played ECHL games for San Francisco, Stockton and Orlando, as well as AHL games for Worcester, Abbottsford and Bridgeport.
