Sisk To Double-A

Edinburg, TX; August 2, 2007- The Edinburg Coyotes and United League Baseball (ULB) announced today that former Edinburg infielder Aaron Sisk who is in the Tampa Bay Devil Rays organization received a promotion from Single-A Vero Beach to Double-A Montgomery as of Wednesday. Sisk was the third Edinburg Coyote and sixth ULB player to be sold to a Major League Organization on May 24 of this season. Sisk played at the Double-A level with the Cubs and Giants organizations over the 2005 and 2006 seasons respectively.

Before his promotion, Sisk was hitting .268 in 49 games for the Vero Beach Devil Rays in the Advanced-A Florida State League. Sisk hit 11 homers for the D-Rays along with seven doubles and 36 runs batted in. In his first Double-A appearance with the Montgomery Biscuits Sisk went 1 for 2 with two RBIs.

Sisk is an 8-year veteran of professional baseball with stops at every level of the game with the exception of any major league time. The 28 year old Ft. Worth, Texas native was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 7th round of the 2000 MLB draft after playing his collegiate career at the University of New Mexico. He spent three seasons in the Blue Jays organization before being released in March of 2003. Sisk joined the Edinburg Roadrunners of the Central League in 2003 where he broke the club record for home runs in a season with 12 and played in all 96 games. In 2004 Sisk hit another 11 homers and was arguably the Roadrunners most valuable player in their six game post season run to the 2004 Central League Championship. He was picked up by the Chicago Cubs in May of 2005 and spent time in Single-A Peoria and Double-A West Tennessee putting up great numbers along the way hitting .280 with 13 home runs in 87 minor league games.

His affiliated baseball time also took him to the San Francisco Giants organizations in 2006 after he was selected by the Giants in the Rule-5 Draft during the Winter Meetings. Sisk spent all of 2006 with the Connecticut Defenders the Double-A affiliate of the Giants where he slugged 10 homers in just 237 at-bats. Sisk was hitting .286 with three doubles, two homers and a team high 11 RBIs for Edinburg before his contract was purchased.

The Edinburg Coyotes are members of United League Baseball an independent league of six professional baseball teams located in Texas and Louisiana. The United League is in its second season this summer with teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Laredo, Harlingen, and San Angelo, Texas; and Alexandria, Louisiana. The ULB will play a 100-game schedule between May and August 2007.
