Amarillo Dillas News Release

HARLINGEN, TX - The Amarillo Dillas and starting pitcher Dario Ferrand didn't allow a Rio Grande Valley White Wings batter to hit until the fifth inning while Ferrand allowed no runs and only two hits in a 10-2 victory on Thursday night at Harlingen Field in front of 2,462 fans.

Ferrand (1-8) got his first win this season while striking out four batters. White Wings starter Joe Rogers (9-3) got his second loss to the Dillas as he went seven innings, allowed seven runs and eight hits but struck out ten batters.

The Dillas would establish their authority in the game in the first inning. Walks to Jonathan Reynoso and Carlos Figueroa put two runners on with one out, when Danny Bravo came to the bat and clobbered a 0-2 pitch over the left field wall for his 12th homer of the season which gave Amarillo a 3-0 lead.

After a bases loaded walk to Bravo brought home another run in the second, Jordan Ramos hit a solo homer in the third to extend the Dillas lead 5-0.

After an error scored Ramos from first in the fifth inning, Bravo singled to start the seventh, stole second and scored on a Gary Schneidmiller double for a 7-0 Dillas advantage.

After a Ryan Crespi triple led to another Amarillo run, the White Wings scored their first runs with a two-run homerun by Miguel Peguero to lessen the deficit at 8-2.

Amarillo scored twice more in the ninth as Josh Ashton singled home Brendon Hitchcock while Ramos scored on an error to put the Dillas up 10-2. Dillas reliever Josh Chitwood finished off the side in the ninth to preserve the eight-run win.

With the win, the Dillas improve to 17-13 on the second-half of the season, 43-37 overall and move within six games of the first-place Alexandria Aces who fell 5-2 to the San Angelo Colts. Friday, the Dillas will travel to San Angelo to take on the Colts for the opening game of a three-game series at 7:05 pm with Dillas Pre-Game set to begin at 6:50 pm on 1010 AM The Canyon and online via AudioSportsOnline.com.
