(Southaven, MS) -- The Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL) have announced that they have signed Mississippi RiverKings' goaltender Tyler Sims to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO), according to Norfolk general manager Mike Butters.

Sims, a 6-foot, 190-pound goaltender, has gone 5-4-0 in nine games with the RiverKings this season. The professional rookie has goals-against average of 2.80, a .898 save percentage and has one shutout with the RiverKings.

Tyler earned the team's first shutout of the season when Mississippi stopped the IceRays in Corpus Christi on November 29th, by a score of 1-0. He made 34 saves in the victory.

His longest winning streak came between December 20th and the 27th, with victories posted over Amarillo (2-1), Wichita (8-3), and Tulsa (5-3). He made 34 saves on two occasions, the November 29th win against Corpus Christi, and in a December 6th loss at Rapid City (3-2).

He is the career record holder for games played (116) and shutouts (7) at Providence College. Sims was given the Lou Lamoriello Award as Providence College Team Co-MVP for the 2005-06 season.
