Mudbugs to Play Two at Home This Weekend

January 29, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - This weekend at CenturyTel Center the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs will host a pair of home games against Northern Conference opponents Rapid City and Wichita. Friday night the 'Bugs will take on the Rush and Saturday night they will faceoff against the Thunder, with both games set to begin at 7:05 pm. The Mudbugs will look to solidify their first-place standing in the Northeast Division as they start a seven-game homestand this weekend, so come out to CenturyTel Center to help the 'Bugs extend their winning streak!

Friday night will be the first-ever appearance at CenturyTel Center for the Rush, who are in their inaugural season in the Central Hockey League. The Mudbugs played Rapid City twice back in December at the new Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, splitting a pair of games. Bossier-Shreveport won the first match-up by a final score of 5-1, but Rapid City battled back to win the second game 5-2. The Rush are in third place in the Northwest Division, 13 points behind Rocky Mountain for the final playoff spot in the Northern Conference entering Friday. With 23 games remaining, Rapid City will be intent on trying to get a big road win at CenturyTel Center in their final regular season meeting with the Mudbugs.

Saturday night, Bossier-Shreveport will take on Wichita for the third time this season, presented by Heritage Properties' The Reserve of Bossier City apartments. The game is our 2009 Girl Scout Night, when we welcome in troops of Girl Scouts from all over the Ark-La-Tex and feature Girl Scouts during the evening's events. As part of Girl Scout Night, the troop that sells the most tickets to Saturday's game will be invited back to another game later this season to sell Girl Scout Cookies on the concourse.

DIGIKIDS will be set up on the concourse Saturday as well to sell their digital I.D. card system that helps parents and authorities keep children safe in the event of abduction. DIGIKIDS has developed solutions that include a fail safe method to ensure that no database of any child is ever created, an email program that routes emergency email through a dedicated network so that it is not mistaken for SPAM and rejected, and a high-tech portable studio that allows them to create, manufacture and deliver the I.D. Card and business card size CD onsite in about two minutes from start to finish! DIGIKIDS has built a reputation for safe, confidential and highly effective child safety ID, and is offering free I.D. cards for the first 20 kids to their booth on Saturday night, courtesy of Baskin-Robbins.

Finally, there will be a public post-game skating session. Cost is $6.00 per person to skate after the game and tickets are available at the Mudbugs information table on the concourse during the game. The Mudbugs are 2-0 against the Thunder this season after a pair of victories early in December. The 'Bugs took an exciting 1-0 decision at home on a Thursday night and then traveled to Wichita Saturday, where they earned a 2-1 victory in the return to the Kansas Coliseum for three current Mudbugs who once played for Wichita. The two longtime rivals will have two more head-to-head meetings this year after Saturday's game.

Individual seats for both games are on sale through Ticketmaster at 318-741-9700 or at the CenturyTel Center main box office. Group tickets and Mudbugs flex ticket packages are available at the Mudbugs office, so call 318-752-BUGS or stop by the team office inside CenturyTel Center to get yours today!
