Everett Silvertips News Release

The Everett Silvertips continue their winning streak with a 5-2 victory over division rivals, the Tri-City Americans. Everett pads their point lead in the division by two more to put them at 45 and a record of 22-14-1-0. The Americans remain at 32 points and drop to 14-15-3-1 where they are tied with Seattle for fourth place.

The Silvertips got on top with a 3-0 run in the first period. Shaun Heshka earned the first on a power play with a long shot from center point. Zach Hamill, playing his first game in weeks, followed up with two tallies of his own, one on another Everett power play. Late in the second period the Americans got up on the board to close the gap to 3-1 with a goal from Logan Stephenson. Then five minutes into the third Ondrej Fiala got a step on his man and beat the goalie to make it 4-1. Jason Beeman responded for Tri-Cities seven minutes later to push them up 4-2 but the momentum did not continue. Fiala earned marker number two on an empty net to finish the hockey game at 5-2.

Leland Irving, always solid, stopped 17 of 19 shots and improves his record to 20-13. Carey Price started in goal for the Americans but was pulled after the Silvertips' third goal in the first period. He stopped 2 of 5 shots and gets the loss, which drops his record to 11-11-3-1. Chet Pickard played well and managed to turn away 11 of 13 shots. On the power play Everett converted on 2 of 8 while Tri-Cities scored on 1 of 4 chances. Final shots on goal were the Silvertips 20 and the Americans 19.

The Everett Silvertips are back in action on Saturday December 31st, New Year's Eve, where they will drop the puck against the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors. The game is two hours early so all the action starts at 5:05pm.
