Silvertips end 2005 with win over Moose Jaw

The Everett Silvertips ended the year 2005 with a quality 4-2 victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors in front of 6785 fans at the Everett Events Center on Saturday, December 31. With the win, the Silvertips extend their winning streak to 6 games and continue to remain red hot with a record of 23-14-1-0 (47 points) and stay in first place in the US Division. With the win, the Silvertips also post a 2-1 all time record against the Moose Jaw Warriors.

The Silvertips were led in scoring by John Lammers who tallied 2 goals and one assist in the win. Zach Hamill and Ondrej Fiala contributed with a goal and an assist while Silvertips captain Torrie Wheat added 2 helpers. Goaltender Leland Irving picked up his 23rd victory of the season by making 15 saves. The Warriors received goals by Cole Simpson and Blair Jones in the loss as the Warriors fall to 0-1 on their 6-game road trip.

The Silvertips are now finished playing Eastern Conference foes and ended with a 4-1 record against the East Division. The Silvertips out shot the Warriors by a margin of 33-17 in the hockey game. Everett went 3 for 7 on the power play and Moose Jaw went 0 for 3 on the extra man advantage.

The Silvertips will have a few days off to start 2006 and will get back on the ice against the Tri-City Americans on Saturday, January 7 in Kennewick, WA at 7:05 p.m.
