
Silvertips Earn Ninth Straight Win At Home

Everett, WA - The Everett Silvertips collected their ninth straight win at home by defeating the Spokane Chiefs 5-1 Saturday night. Byron Froese had a four point game (2G, 2A) and reached a milestone of 100 career WHL points on his first assist Saturday night. Tyler Maxwell had a three point game (1G, 2A) and also reached the milestone of 100 career WHL points on his second assist of the night. Kellan Tochkin earned third star of the game with one goal and two assists. Alex Theriau rounded out the scoring while Kent Simpson made 18 saves for his 17th win of the season.
Froese scored the first goal of the night for Everett at 14:08 of the first period. Froese collected his 20th goal of the season after a Rasmus Rissanen shot from the point bounced off several players in front before landing on Froese's stick and finding the back of the net. The Silvertips increased their lead to two when Tochkin tallied his 20th goal of the year at 15:44. Maxwell made a great pass from the side of the net that went behind Spokane goalie James Reid to Tochkin backdoor for an open net and a 2-0 Everett lead. Kyle Beach scored shorthanded at 19:47 to cut Everett's lead to one at the end of the first period.
Maxwell made the score to 3-1 Silvertips at 5:16 of the second period. Maxwell collected a rebound on top of the crease for his 26th goal of the year. Everett held the lead in shots 28-14 after 40 minutes of play.
Froese collected his second goal of the night on the power play just 49 seconds into the third period. After a scramble in front of the net, Froese ended up with the puck in the slot and beat Reid to make the score 4-1. Theriau made the score 5-1 at 4:56 with a hard wrist shot from the left circle. Theriau's third goal of the season had Spokane pull Reid in favor of Michael Tadjdeh. Everett outshot Spokane 43-19 on the way to a 5-1 victory.
This brings the âTips record to 34-18-2-1 with 71 points in 55 games played. Everett continues their four game homestand this Wednesday against the Kelowna Rockets at 7:05 pm. Comcast Arena goes live on Fox Sports Northwest this Friday for a U.S. Division rival game against the Spokane Chiefs at 7:30 pm.
