Silvertips and Chiefs Continue Series in Spokane

The Everett Silvertips and the Spokane Chiefs will continue their first round series match up in Spokane, WA on Tuesday night at the Spokane Arena. The Silvertips lead the best-of-seven 1st round series 2-0. Game #3 will take place in Spokane on Tuesday, March 27 at 7:00 p.m. while Game #4 will take place on Wednesday, March 28 at 7:00 p.m. at the Spokane Arena. SILVERTIPS 2007 PLAYOFF SCORING LEADERS

Silvertips forwards Moises Gutierrez (2 goals, 1 assist) and Peter Mueller (3 assists) lead the Silvertips in scoring with 3 points. Mueller leads the team in assists (3) while Gutierrez and Zach Hamill (2 goals) lead the team in goals scored (2). In goal, Leland Irving is 2-0 in post season play with a 1.89 GAA and a 93.3% SP.

EVERETT SILVERTIPS AND SPOKANE CHIEFS SPECIAL TEAMS RUNDOWN

The Silvertips finished 4th in the WHL on the power play (109 for 546, 20.0%) and 2nd in the WHL on the penalty kill (449 of 507, 88.6%) during the 2006-2007 regular season. The Spokane Chiefs finished 16th in the WHL on the power play (81 for 497, 16.3%) and 10th in the WHL on the penalty kill (377 of 455, 82.9%) during the regular season. The Silvertips went 9 for 49 against the Chiefs on the power play during the regular season and Spokane went 7 for 56 against the Silvertips on the extra man advantage during the regular season. Currently in the 2007 WHL Playoffs, the Silvertips are 5th on the power play (2 for 9, 22.2%) and 3rd on the penalty kill (13 of 14, 92.9%). The Spokane Chiefs are 14th on the power play (1 for 14, 7.1%) and 12th on the penalty kill (7 of 9, 77.8%).

SILVERTIPS HISTORY IN PLAYOFF OVERTIME

The Silvertips are 8-4 all time in overtime during the playoffs.

Silvertips forward Zach Hamill is the all time leader in game winning overtime playoff goals in Silvertips franchise history. The Port Coquitlam, BC native has tallied 3 game winning overtime goals in post season play.

SILVERTIPS VS. CHIEFS SERIES RECAP

Game #1: Silvertips forward Moises Gutierrez recorded 2 goals and added 1 assist to help the Everett Silvertips to a 4-2 victory over the Spokane Chiefs at the Everett Events Center on Friday, March 23. Peter Mueller posted 3 assists in the win while Zach Hamill and Zack Dailey added a goal a piece. The Silvertips out shot the Chiefs 26-25 in the hockey game. Everett went 1 for 3 on the power play and Spokane went 1 for 8 on the extra man advantage.

Game #2: Silvertips forward Zach Hamill tallied the game winning goal in the first overtime as the Everett Silvertips defeated the Spokane Chiefs 3-2 (OT) at the Everett Events Center on Saturday, March 24. Lukas Vartovnik and Shane Harper each added a goal and an assist while goaltender Leland Irving made 33 saves in the victory. The Chiefs out shot the Silvertips 35-30 in the hockey game. Everett went 1 for 6 on the power play and Spokane went 0 for 6 on the extra man advantage.

FOUR SILVERTIPS NAMED TO WESTERN CONFERENCE ALL-STAR SQUADS

The 2006-2007 US Division and WHL regular season champions, Everett Silvertips had four members of the hockey club selected to the 2006-2007 Western Conference All-Star Teams. Silvertips forwards Zach Hamill and Peter Mueller earned 1st team honors while Silvertips goaltender Leland Irving and defenseman Jason Fransoo earned 2nd team honors.

Zach Hamill finished 1st in the WHL in scoring with 93 points, earning the Bobby Clarke Trophy as the leagues leading scorer. The Port Coquitlam, BC native also led the WHL in assists with 61. Hamill, who is eligible for the 2007 NHL Draft, is the Silvertips all-time leading scorer in franchise history with 187 points.

Peter Mueller finished 2nd on the Silvertips in scoring with 78 points. The 2006 1st round selection (8th overall) of the Phoenix Coyotes recorded 57 assists in 51 games this season. In his two seasons with the Silvertips, the Bloomington, MN native has tallied 47 goals and 89 assists for 136 points in 103 career games in the WHL. Last season, Mueller won the Jim Piggott Trophy as the WHL's Rookie of the Year.

Silvertips goaltender Leland Irving earned 2nd team honors for the second season in a row. The Swan Hills, AB native finished 2nd in the WHL in Goals Against Average (1.86), 1st in Save Percentage (92.9%), 1st in Shutouts (11) and 2nd in Wins (34). The 2006 1st Round Pick (26th overall) of the Calgary Flames, recorded franchise single season records in Shutouts (11) and Goals Against Average (1.86) during the 2006-2007 season.

Silvertips defenseman Jason Fransoo led all Silvertips defensemen in scoring with 9 goals and 34 assists for 43 points this season. The North Battleford, SK native finished 16th among all WHL defensemen in scoring during the 2006-2007 campaign. The Silvertips captain has been awarded the Silvertips Ironman Award two seasons in a row by playing in 143 career games with the Silvertips in two seasons.

The Silvertips will begin the 2007 WHL Playoffs on Friday, March 23 against the Spokane Chiefs at the Everett Events Center.
