
Silver Hat Trick Goal Puts Lancers over RoughRiders, 6-5

RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers went down to the wire on Saturday against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders winning in the final seconds of the game 6-5.
The RoughRiders scored late in the first frame to take the 1-0 lead going into the first intermission.
In the second period, the Lancers scored four unanswered goals on the RoughRiders. It was Daniel Hilsendager (5:33) who shot the puck from the blue line through traffic to score. Seconds after that, Cam Berg (5:40) stole the puck from the Riders goaltender, Derek Mullahy to get the Lancers ahead 2-1. The scoring continued when Brian Silver (13:45) snapped the puck past Mullahy and then again when he scored (17:46) on the backdoor to get the Lancers ahead 4-1 to finish the period.
In the final period, Ben Meehan (2:59) got the Riders back on the board to make the score 4-2. As the period went on, Michael Cameron (8:15) netted his first as a Lancer to get the game to 5-2. Cedar Rapids would soon answer back, as Ben Meehan scored at 11:34 and 13:12, to get a hat trick on the night and make the score 5-4. Later on and on the power-play, Cedar Rapids netted a goal at 16:03 to even the game 5-5. After a late penalty was called on the RoughRiders Will Francis (19:22 - Head Contact) the Lancers had a chance to close out the game with a win. Jack Randl took the puck off the faceoff win and moved it up to the middle of the blue line for Christian Berger. Berger fired the puck in the middle of traffic, which hit a few bodies than was put into the back of the net by Brian Silver at 19:47. The Lancers then held off the 6-man attack from the RoughRiders to end the game and win 6-5. Akira Schmid played 56:03 and stopped 26 of the 31 shots he saw, while Kyle McClellan played 3:57 stopping all 3 RoughRiders shots that came his way.
The Lancers are now 3-4-1-0 on the year with 7 points and a fifth-place spot in the Western Conference.
