Plucinski Commits to Notre Dame
October 21, 2019 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Omaha Lancers News Release
RALSTON, NE - Omaha Lancers Defenseman Zach Plucinksi announced his commitment today to continue his education and play hockey at the University of Notre Dame via Twitter.
"I'm obviously very excited for the future and to join such a prestigious program," Plucinksi said. " With that being said, it is nice to be able to put all of my focus into the season at hand."
The Eagle River, Alaska native has played in all 8 games this season and has recorded 3 points (1G, 2A). Notre Dame is fond of Plucinksi's 200-foot play, his defensive reliability, and ability to play the puck offensively.
"It's been a long process for Zach since we acquired him from SC last year," General Manager and Head Coach David Wilkie said. "Zach has done a great job as an Omaha Lancer and is well-deserving of this terrific opportunity for him on and off of the ice at an institution such as Notre Dame."
Plucinski split last season playing in 27 games with the Sioux City Musketeers and 25 games with the Lancers. He totaled 6 points on the season. Prior to the USHL, Zach played for the Notre Dame Hounds Midget AAA program where he recorded 35 points in 44 games.
"The education and hockey package is arguably the best in the NCAA," Plucinski said. "I definitely felt at home being on the campus, and the academics will help me in my future. I know I will be pushed and developed on and off the ice."
Plucinski will join Lancers Alumni and current Irish players Christian DiCesare (18-19), Pierce Crawford (16-17).
Plucsinksi and the Lancers return to the ice on Friday, October 25th to face off against the Tri-City Storm. Puck drop is set for 7:05 PM.
