June 3, 2008 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Tucson Sidewinders News Release

Fresno, CA - Wilkin Castillo's bloop base hit to left in the top of the eighth inning scored Donnie Kelly with the go ahead run and the Sidewinders bullpen finished up a 2-1 win over the Fresno Grizzlies on Tuesday night at Chukchansi Park. The Sidewinders won three of the four games in the series and have won back to back series for the first time this year.

The winning run was unearned as Kelly reached on Ivan Ochoa's error and advanced to third on Emilio Bonifacio's double to left. With the Grizzlies infield drawn in, Castillo hit a shallow fly ball that dropped on the grass allowing Kelly to score.

Jailen Peguero earned the win with an inning and a third of scoreless relief work. Peguero entered the game with a runner on and two out in the seventh and walked Ochoa before retiring Justin Leone on a deep fly ball to centerfield that was caught by Trent Oeltjen with his back against the fence.

Leo Rosales earned his ninth save in as many chances with a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out two.

Each team scored in their half of the second inning. Jesus Merchan's double to left plated Robby Hammock in the top of the second to give the Sidewinders a 1-0 lead, but Fresno answered back in the bottom of the second on an Eugenio Velez single to right to score Julio Cordido.

Evan MacLane did not earn a decision but posted his third consecutive strong start for Tucson. MacLane allowed a run on eight hits in six and two thirds. He walked five and struck out two.

Jamie D'Antona grounded out as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning to snap his hitting streak at 11. Hammock's second inning single advanced his hitting streak to seven.

The Sidewinders are off tomorrow to travel to Las Vegas where they will open a four game series with the Las Vegas 51's on Thursday night. First pitch is at 7:05. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 6:55.
