Tucson Sidewinders News Release
Salt Lake City, UT - Brian Barden hit a first inning grand slam and Alberto Callaspo had three extra base hits and three RBI as the Sidewinders beat the Salt Lake Bees 10-7 on Saturday night at Franklin Covey Field. The win is Tucson's 63rd of the year and ties them with Round Rock for the most victories in the league.
Tucson jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning. With the bases loaded and one out, Barden took the first pitch he saw from Salt Lake starter Steven Shell over the wall in right for his 13th home run of the year. One out later, Juan Brito followed with a solo blast to right. The Bees answered in the bottom of the second inning. Curtis Pride singled in two with a base hit to right and Erick Aybar followed with an RBI single of his own. An extra run scored on the Aybar base hit thanks to two Sidewinders errors on the play. Right-fielder Jon Weber committed one by misplaying the ground ball and Donnie Sadler dropped Weber's throw back to the infield allowing Pride to score and making the score 5-4.
