
Sidewinders honor championship softball team

Tucson, AZ - The first place Tucson Sidewinders will honor the National Champion University of Arizona woman's softball team Friday, June 9th at Tucson Electric Park. Members of the team, including Assistant Coach Nancy Evans and pitcher Alicia Hollowell, will be acknowledged in an on-field presentation prior to the Sidewinders 7:00 p.m. game against the Salt Lake Bees.
Friday also marks the team's annual Military Appreciation Night that will feature a pre-game flyover by four A-10's of the 358th Fighter Squadron based at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. Admission is free for all military personal with ID or in uniform. A special patriotic fireworks display will burst over TEP at the conclusion of the game. After the game troops and fans alike will have the rare opportunity to bring tents and sleeping bags and camp on Tucson Electric Park's outfield grass during the Sidewinders Sleepover event.
On Saturday, June 10th the Sidewinders will pay tribute to another championship team, the 1993 Tucson Toros, by giving away replica Toros hats with the classic "T" logo to the first 2,000 fans with paid admission. The homestand will culminate with a 6:00 p.m. Sunday contest featuring Dollar Hot Dogs throughout the game.
