Sidewinders hold on for win

Tucson, AZ -Robby Hammock's 9th inning RBI single gives Tucson the 5-4 win over Omaha on Monday night.

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, Jesus Merchan hit a double to left that hit off the diving left fielder's glove. Robby Hammock grounded an RBI single up the middle in the next at bat to deliver Tucson's second walk-off win of the series.

Tucson's starter Evan MacLane gave up two early runs in the first inning to Omaha. The lefty settled down after that, not allow a run until the 8th inning when Chris Lubanski hit a 2-run homerun to right. It was Lubanski's second home run in two straight games for the Royals and it ultimately won the game for Omaha.

Jeff Salazar led off the bottom of the first with a double and was brought in by a Trent Oeltjen triple for Tucson's first run of the game. Tucson tied it that inning with a line drive single by Josh Whitesell that scored Oeltjen to make it a 2-2 ball game.

The Sidewinders took the lead in the sixth inning on a wild pitch by Omaha's starter Brandon Duckworth that allowed Donnie Kelly to score from third.

Going into the eighth inning Tucson had runners at the corners with two outs and Salazar delivered the game tying RBI with a line drive to center field scoring Wilkin Castillo

The Sidewinders will face the Omaha Royals in the last game of their four game series starting at 7:00 PM on Friday night. RHP Juan Gutierrez (2-10, 7.28) is scheduled to start for Tucson. Left-hander Dusty Hughes (2-0, 3.67) will start for the Royals. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 6:50 p.m.
