
Sidekicks Finish Season with Loss in Mini Game

Independence, MO - The Dallas Sidekicks end their playoff run with a defeat to Kansas City Comets.
Sidekicks player, Felipe Silva, opened the score sheet at the 4-minute mark of the first quarter. Quickly after, Kansas City tied up the game at the 6:24 mark. Both sides had chances in the 1st quarter, however, none of those chances went in the goal and the score remained tied.
Like the 1st quarter, the 2nd quarter started off slow as both sides had chances. Despite the slow start, Kansas City ended the tied game with a goal by Comets player, Eduardo Monreal at the 9:59 mark. The Sidekicks answered back at the 13:28 mark with a goal by Oscar Romero making it a tied game again.
In the 3rd quarter, Kansas City had numerous chances, but the Dallas Sidekicks kept together defensively. Sebastian Mendez scored at the 7:02 mark to make the score 3-2 Sidekicks. The score stayed 3-2 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Coming into the 4th quarter, tensions were high on both sides. At the restart after a Sidekicks challenge, Jamie Lovegrove scored making the score 4-2. Shortly after, Jamie Lovegrove scored another one at the 3:04 mark. Kansas City made a small comeback scoring 2 goals at the 9:06 minute mark and the 9:58 minute mark. However, the Sidekicks followed up with 2 more with goals by David Ortiz making the score 7-4 Sidekicks. Shortly after, Kansas City answered back at the 13:14 minute mark.
The Sidekicks won 7-5 making the series 1-1 so a 15-minute mini-game will be played to determine who moves onto the next round of the MASL playoffs.
In the mini game, Kansas City scored 36 seconds into it making the score 0-1 Comets. At the 6:07 minute mark, Kansas City scored another goal making the score 0-2. Luiz Morales scored at the 7:22 minute mark keeping the momentum up for the Sidekicks making the score 2-1 Comets. However, that was not enough when the Comets scored again at the 14:16 mark of extra time. Kansas City won the mini-game 3-1 so Kansas City will be moving onto the next round making the Sidekicks playoff run officially over.
